Does the bride pay for the bridesmaid dresses?

A

Bridesmaids usually pay for their own dresses and accessories. Therefore, you should carefully consider the cost of their outfits as well as their heights and body types when choosing their dresses. Look for bridesmaid dress styles that are as flattering as possible for all of your attendants. You don’t want to hear grumbles about how they’ll “never be able to wear this dress again – except as a Halloween costume!” or that they “can’t believe she’s asking us to spend this much.”

Unless one of your attendants asks you to order her bridesmaids’ dress, it’s best to respect their’ privacy and not ask for sizes and measurements. Let your bridesmaids handle their own ordering and altering, which is usually handled by the store where the bridesmaids’ dresses are purchased. If you know of a better tailor, do let your attendants know about her, as well as her rates.
