How should I handle a lazy maid of honor?

A

The best way to handle a lazy maid of honor is to talk to her. Do not address her in a confrontational manner or immediately start by saying, “Why have you been neglecting your wedding duties?” Chances are that your maid of honor has something else going on in her life that has drawn her focus away from your wedding. Even though this is a monumental time in your life and you have chosen to have her as your most important attendant, remember that she has her own life and feelings that she is dealing with during this time. Ask her if there is any part of the job she feels she cannot handle and consider reassigning this task to one of your other bridesmaids or having two maids of honor.

That said, if your maid of honor is simply slacking off out of jealousy or apathy, you may have to relieve her of her duties. Be sure to do this kindly, as she is still invited to your wedding; you may even wish to keep her in your bridal party.
