What types of bridesmaid dresses are best for formal weddings?

A Bridesmaids dresses should match your dress in formality, but they don’t have to be the same style or fabric. For example, if you wear satin, your attendants could wear a similar material. Your wedding attendants' outfits should be complementary to yours; so it is perfectly appropriate for the bride’s gown to be long and the bridesmaids to sport shorter length dresses. If the dress code of your wedding is black- or white-tie; however, both the bride and the bridesmaids traditionally wear floor-length gowns.

Virtually all colors are acceptable for bridesmaid dresses today; including black and shades of white. However, if your bridesmaids wear white, be careful that attendants don’t look too much like you!
