Separated by war, Van and Eric kept their love alive by being pen pals during Eric's year-long tour with the Army National Guard. The couple describe themselves as “everyday people who share a very real love.” The groom popped the question while on leave from Iraq. She said yes, and the rest is history…well not quite! They received the ultimate surprise when they won our $100,000 Dream Wedding Contest! We asked couples who were dreaming of a celebrity-style, one-of-a-kind wedding day to enter to win a chance to have it come true. Van and Eric got the most votes from viewers, and their story really won over our judges. Once we picked the winners, Amy Shey Jacobs, owner of Chandelier Events, partnered with WeddingChannel.com to help Van and Eric plan an unforgettable, A-list affair.
