How do I get an international marriage license?

A Do your research! Every country has a different set of rules and requirements for marriage, so your best bet is to call the country’s consulate or tourist office in the United States or look at their official government website to determine the policies. Depending on where you want to get married, there may be more to getting the license thank you think. The policies in Mexico, for example, change from town to town, so after the tourist’s office, you’ll have to contact someone else. Just make sure you get all the facts ahead of time -- even before you have your whole heart set on a destination. The earlier you start the planning process, the better. Aug 06, 2009
