What Are the Groom's Wedding Day Responsibilities?

A

When the wedding day arrives, the groom has numerous traditional duties that he should attend to.

A list of day-of duties are:

  • Make sure that the best man has the wedding ring, any necessary documents, and the fee for the officiant.
  • If the couple is leaving directly from the reception to the honeymoon, the groom should ensure confirmation of transportation, make sure bags are packed, and double check that the bags are placed in said transportation.
  • For the ceremony, the groom should be dressed and ready to go ideally an hour before the wedding begins. He should arrive at the ceremony site at least 15 minutes before the hour of the service and wait in the private room with the best man.
  • At the reception, he should toast after the best man and parents do so. He should thank everyone for attending and thank parents and other family members for their love and support.
