Simplify Your Stationery

Planning to send engagement announcements or save-the-dates? Make them yourself! There are so many fun DIY ways to customize cards or stationery to share your news. Doing so won’t just help you save big, you’ll also be able to truly personalize the message. Plus, you know those blank pieces of paper that go inside most invitations? Guess what -- they’re totally unnecessary! Save hundreds of dollars by skipping this super-formal tradition. The extra paper may be a little over the top, especially if you’re having a casual wedding, and your invites will be more eco-friendly this way. Remember, you can always put lodging info and other wedding details on your wedding website!

Really simplistic advice...I'd already thought of these things

I have seen many other places that cash bars are a good way to cut down on budget??? I am confused now. Irritating

by weesi83 on Jul 27, 2010

What they mean weesi83, is that cash bars aren't "acceptable" meaning it is rude to expect you guests to pay for drinks... blah blah blah. So stuffy if you ask me. Maybe if my dad were Bill Clinton....

Already started!:o)

Cash bars are completely acceptable in the upper Midwest, as long as beer and soda (and champagne for the toast) are provide at no charge.

by jberg134 on Jul 28, 2010

Totally agree...Cash bars are NORMAL around here (WI) ...with beer and soda free all night. Wedding party and parents, grandparents & godparents drink free all night as well.

I live in the south. One of my reception venue contenders had the audacity to suggest that I pay them a minimum, and then they would start charging my guests (cash-bar-style) after that. Yeah... I'll be having my reception a venue that includes the bar in the overall price of the rental. We don't do "cash bar" in the south for big weddings. This is OUR party, and we should pay for the alcohol.

Agreed. There's no way I'm asking people to come all the way to the west coast for my wedding and them expecting them to pay for drinks. Also, a bunch of our friends are unemployed and/or students, and the last thing we want them worrying about at our wedding is money!
