Is there a difference between a cake designer and a cake baker?

A

A wedding cake designer is exactly what it sounds like: someone who can sketch out your vision for your dream wedding cake. The wedding cake baker is the person who can turn the vision into a reality by baking the actual cake. They can also be one in the same. When you have interviews and cake tastings, ask who will be designing and who will be baking your cake. It's a common question, so don't feel uncomfortable asking about who's who. You want to make sure that your wedding cake designer or baking team has the same vision you do for your dream wedding cake.

Here is a checklist of things to know when going to interview potential wedding cake designers.
