Anti-war and anti-establishment, the new earthier bride got married on a beach or in the woods instead of in a church, and might wear a peasant dress or embroidered jeans as her wedding gown. Contrary to this new trend, statistics show that most gowns during that era were still white, and a majority still floor length -- although the style was definitely avant-garde. In a time where tradition was commonly bashed, the traditional wedding gown nonetheless survived.
