Is a Wedding at a Hotel Any Easier to Plan?

A

The ease of planning a wedding at a hotel depends on your expectations. Hotel weddings tend to be all-inclusive arrangements since the facility already has everything on site. A caterer, cake designer, team of servers and bartenders, wedding coordinator, ceremony, and reception site are available all in one place. You won’t need to worry about setup, cleanup, or bringing in tables, chairs, linens, glassware, or silverware. Some hotels even have an on-site florist and beauty salon or, at the very least, can provide you with a list of trusted vendors. They offer several settings for your wedding and reception, including gardens, beachfronts, and formal ballrooms. In addition, you and your guests will be steps away from a comfortable room or suite for the night.

If you wish to have a wider range of personal choices, you may find that some hotels have tighter restrictions than others. Many will only allow on-site catering from their own staff, limit vendors to those on their preferred list, or charge a fee if outside services are utilized. However, these same restrictions may apply to any other reception site. In terms of budget, hotels often have several packages to choose from and may offer group discounts for out-of-town guests. Before you decide to cast your lot with a hotel, do your research, read all the fine print, and interview the wedding coordinator -- you just may find that a hotel is the perfect setting for the wedding of your dreams.
