How Do You Go About Getting Married in Las Vegas?

A

No matter how you imagine your perfect wedding -- from a formal ballroom celebration to a relaxed poolside ceremony -- everything is possible in Vegas.Forget the stereotypical Elvis Presley-style wedding chapel; today’s Las Vegas weddings are fun, stylish, and a great alternative to more traditional celebrations. That said, if you'd just love to get married by the King himself, you can still opt for the more "traditional" Las Vegas wedding.

To have a Las Vegas wedding, you must first visit the Clark County Courthouse to obtain a $55 marriage license. In Clark County, blood tests aren't required, and there's no waiting period. Take note that the courthouse is no longer open 24 hours a day and is now open 8 a.m. to midnight daily.

For further information or questions, contact the courthouse directly:

The chapels and casinos in Las Vegas offer one-stop wedding planning, so you can organize your flowers, photography, officiant, ceremony, and often your reception all in one appointment.

Keep in mind that wherever you choose to marry, you won't be the only couple there that day -- or even that hour. If your package gives you a half hour of chapel time, there will most likely be another bride waiting at the door as your ceremony finishes. And like any other venue, you should remember that holidays are going to be a much busier time than usual in Las Vegas. Allow plenty of time at the courthouse and reserve your site as soon as possible.

Also, you should know that most places require you to use their wedding professionals. So while you don’t have to hire a chapel's or casino’s photographer, you might not be able to bring in your own. Make sure you understand the fine print before handing over your deposit.

Whether you plan a playful themed wedding or opt for an elegant soiree in a ballroom, there's one thing every Las Vegas wedding guarantees: fun you'll never forget.
