How Does Eloping Differ From a Regular Ceremony?

A

Eloping usually costs substantially less than a regular wedding ceremony. In Las Vegas, a chapel and officiant can be rented and hired for around $100. The fees for a wedding at your local city hall are slightly higher, but shouldn’t run much beyond a couple of hundred dollars. The rings and honeymoon will presumably add to these costs, but you will still end up saving thousands of dollars in comparison to the traditional ceremony and reception.

Not only does eloping save money, it is also much a faster way of getting married. Las Vegas weddings can be arranged and performed in a matter of hours. Although a courthouse wedding often requires blood tests and a marriage license (check with your city and state agencies to see how long the processing will take), the ceremony itself can be performed quickly. This may be the appropriate choice for couples who want to tie the knot without having to go through the hassle of planning a big affair.
