What Vows Are Appropriate for a Classic Wedding?
The classic “to have and to hold” vows have stood the test of time. The wedding officiant says a certain number of sentences, each of which is repeated by the groom, and then in turn by the bride.
"I, (name),
Take you, (name),
To be my (wife/husband);
To have and to hold,
From this day forward,
For better, for worse,
For richer, for poorer,
In sickness and in health,
To love and to cherish,
'Til death do us part." (or, "As long as we both shall live.")
