Does your sister have to be your maid of honor?

A The wedding wouldn’t be the same without your maid or matron of honor. She is the foundation of your bridal party and it’s her job to help you pull off the perfect wedding and to be there for moral support. Chosen for her energetic, get-the-ball-in-motion qualities, she needs to remember that listening to the bride, making her laugh, and offering a strong shoulder to lean on are also part of her maid of honor duties. If your sister fits this description, then she should be your maid of honor. If a close friend is a better fit, then so be it. You want the right person standing beside you at the altar, don’t you? Take some time to really think about it and weigh your options, and you’ll most likely make the right call for you. Aug 09, 2009
