Bateau Bateau: A high, wide straight neckline that runs straight across the front and back, meeting at the shoulders; the same depth in the front and back.
Bertha Bertha: A cape-like collar, usually made of lace.
Convertible Convertible: A rolled collar that can be worn open or closed. Sewn directly to the neckline.
Cowl Cowl: A neckline featuring a piece of material attached to a garment at the neck, which may be used as a hood or draped loosely in a swag from shoulder to shoulder at the front neckline or back.
Illusion Illusion: A gown with a yoke of sheer net and an often ornately decorated satin band, fitting snugly on the neck creating a choker effect.
Jewel Jewel: A high round neckline resting simply at the base of the neck.
Keyhole Keyhole: A tear shaped or round cutout that fastens at the front or back neckline.
Mandarin Mandarin: A short, stand up collar, adopted from the close-fitting Asian collar.
Notched Notched: A two-piece collar that can only be worn open.
Off the Shoulder Off the Shoulder: A neckline that lies gently hovering across the top of the bustline with the shoulders uncovered or able to be seen through the sheer yoke of net or organza attached to a high collar.
Peter Pan Peter Pan: A collar that is a one-piece or two-piece flat collar with rounded ends. Also called Buster Brown, Eton or Dutch collar.
Portrait Portrait: A shawl collar that wraps the shoulders.
Queen Anne Queen Anne: A collar that rises high at the back of the neckline, cupping the sides of the neck then sculpting low across the chest to outline a bare yoke.
Sabrina Sabrina: A high scoop neck.
Scoop or Round Scoop or Round: A low, U-shaped neckline.
Shawl Shawl: A one-piece collar which is turned down to form a continuous line around the back of the neck to the front.
Square Square: An open yoke neckline shaped in the form of a half square.
Strapless Strapless: A neckline created by an absence of sleeves (usually) and collar.
Sweetheart Sweetheart: A graceful, open yoke shaped like the top half of a heart. One of the most popular bridal gown necklines.
V-Neck V-Neck: An open yoke coming to a "V" shape midway down the bodice.
Wedding Band Wedding Band: A collar featuring a yoke that is either open or of sheer net with an ornate band fitting snugly on the neck, creating a choker effect.
