What is your price range? Off-the-rack dresses on sale can be had for less than $200, while designer gowns can run into the tens of thousands of dollars. Have a range in mind before you start your search.
What’s your personal fashion sense? If you're a laid-back girl who favors a tailored look, you're probably not going to feel comfortable in ruffles galore and sequins. While there's no better place to go fancy than your wedding, keep your regular clothing style in mind so you don't make a major mistake.
What takes your breath away? Once you’ve narrowed your style down, print out pictures of the gowns that catch your breath and fit the criteria you’ve figured out. Bring them along with you to the salons, and start trying on dresses.
