Which Wedding-Gown Styles Are Considered Classic?

A

The ball gown (or princess gown) is one of the most timeless silhouettes for wedding dresses, and is the look most often associated with brides. From royal weddings to fairy-tale weddings (think Cinderella), the ball gown has done justice to the most formal events. Although its popularity wanes from time to time, the ball gown has always come back, and images of brides in this popular style never seem outdated.

Although shorter hemlines aren't always popular, the long wedding gown or dress has been acceptable through every era. Strapless gowns haven't always been the most popular bridal look, but they have been a popular eveningwear option for decades and will not look dated in wedding photos. Most types of sleeves fall in and out of favor as well, but the strapless bodice is a classic look.
