How to Select Your Favors

1. Guest Count.

Finalize your guest count, but keep in mind more extravagant favors can be shared. Let your favors double as a sendoff for the bride and groom or place them on a special table to pick up on the way out. Sparklers to light, birdseed to throw and bubbles to blow are all wonderful, affordable favors.

2. Cost.

This is one of the few parts of your wedding budget with no real guidelines. You can spend a nickel or a hundred dollars per wedding favor. And if you choose to go favorless, the etiquette police will not show up at your door ready to wrap you in tulle and take you away. So relax, and think about what your guests might enjoy -- and what you can afford.

3. The Look.

Maybe you'll place a favor next to each wine glass. Or maybe you want to set out colorful baskets of favors in a "help-yourself" display. Choose favors that match your overall color palette and theme. Why not wrap your wedding favor boxes with fabulous ribbons in your wedding colors? Or bundle tiny candy hearts with your Jordan almonds?

4. Test Case.

You've made your choice. Those little decorated boxes filled with chocolates are going to look exquisite at your reception. Create one sample favor to see if you want to order your favors in bulk.
