Are There any Alternatives to Favors?

A

While it is traditional to give your guests wedding favors, it is not absolutely necessary. You may choose to forgo the favors altogether, or try these alternatives that your guests will appreciate just as much.

A Helping Hand

Make a small donation in the name of each guest to a favorite charity. Print out small cards for each place setting to let guests know that you have made a donation in their name.

Piece of Cake

Order a delicious groom’s cake or another tasty wedding cake and box it up for guests to take home.

Fun and Games

Set up mini checkers sets, crossword puzzles, and dominoes at each cocktail hour table. Your guests will have a blast playing these games, and they’ll have something to do while they wait for your arrival.

A Token of Appreciation

If your guests will need to take a toll bridge between your ceremony and reception locations (or on their way home), the appropriate number of tokens wrapped in a swatch of fabric makes a unique wedding favor. Tie each bundle with metallic silver cord or ribbon in your wedding colors and place them in baskets near the entrance to the ceremony location.

Late-Night Snack

After a long evening of dancing and chatting, your guests will be grateful for some refreshment. Bring in another round of food with mini burgers, bagels, or milk and cookies.
