Your guide to planning the Spring wedding of your dreams!

Spring kicks off the bridal season, but that doesn’t mean your big day has to look like anyone else’s. Whether you love light linen dresses, pale-pink blooms, or the smell of cut grass there are ways to work in your favorite parts of the season and still reflect a theme of renewal. After all, it’s not just a new beginning for nature, it’s a brand-new chapter in your life too.

Here are some simple suggestions to ensure your style stays unique and chic for the freshest time of the year.

Blossoming Bride

More than anything else, most experts agree that the bride’s dress sets the tone and style for the wedding. Getting married in spring gives you the flexibility to go with a long, traditional look, or something short and sassy. This season, it’s all about lace, fabric flowers, and delicate touches that give the bride a truly elegant and feminine feel.

Bold, Bright, and Beautiful

There’s no better way to shake off the winter blues than by embracing bright greens, punchy pinks, and crisp whites. Pass on the pastels and give your guests a visual wake-up call to spring. Consider palettes that pair deep emerald with canary yellow, ocean teal with stark white or, if you really want to stand out, bright fuchsia with honey gold. One hot trend we’ve noticed this season mixes and matches contrasting prints on reception tables for a look that’s eclectic and elegant. Don’t worry if things aren’t matchy-matchy, your color palette will unify the day and set the mood. Just keep in mind, with eye-catching hues you need to make sure the bride is still the main attraction. Solution? Pick a gown in pure, bright white to contrast with the sea of color.

Romance in the Air

Soft lighting, airy fabrics, and fresh flowers will make your wedding feel intimate and romantic. When it comes to the decor, and even your bridesmaid dresses, avoid any heavily draped velvets or thick satins and, instead, opt for brushed linen, chiffon, charmeuse, georgette, raw silk, or organic cotton. As for the flowers? The hardest part might be narrowing down the options. Pick colorful flowers that are in season (plus, it’s a great way to save money!), like peonies, tulips, dahlias, anemones, crocuses, hyacinth, and Gerber daisies, to name just a few. For a more rustic look, carry wildflower bouquets that combine the freshest springtime blooms in your color scheme. You can also accent your dress or your bridesmaid dresses by using flower appliques or tucking fresh peonies into your hair.

Embrace Some Fresh Ideas

If you’ve waited until the spring to have an outdoor wedding, just remember that familiar saying about April showers. When choosing a location, make sure there’s a rain option that you’re happy with, whether it’s tenting an outdoor area or moving the entire ceremony and reception inside. For a real spring awakening, you can also hold your wedding in the morning or early afternoon. You may be able to save on rental costs, plus you cut down on the chances of afternoon rain. Keep your mood festive and playful by offering favors like tulip bulbs for guests to take home and plant or seeds wrapped up in a flowery fabric.
