What décor elements work well for fall weddings?
When you think of the fall season, images of fiery foliage in reds, oranges, and greens – the most popular colors for fall weddings -- come to mind. Rustic elegance does too. Think: stalks of fall flowers -- which include asters, calla lilies, chocolate cosmos, dahlias, roses, sunflowers, and statice -- tied to tent poles, glass jugs filled with cider, or dozens of hay bales for guests to sit on. Pair your favorite fall flowers with leaves or bunches of berries, or go all-out by combining rich colors and hues. Some options include chocolate brown burn-out velvet table linens, brown velvet curtains and chair cushions, and brown beaded candleholders for the cocktail tables. Host an outdoor reception with the beautiful foliage as your backdrop for a built-in decor idea. (Just don’t forget the heaters if you think it might be chilly!)
Take the fall theme even further in your menu and invitations. Your wedding invitations can incorporate an autumnal icon, such as a maple leaf or pinecone. At your reception, use small pumpkins or round squash as bowls for creamy pumpkin soup. Incorporate the spirit of Halloween by serving chocolate martinis with Hershey’s Kisses, or green-apple martinis with apple-flavored Jolly Ranchers.
