Should my invitations include a dress code?

A We don’t recommend including dress code info in your invitations unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you must, etiquette dictates a few rules. It’s only acceptable to mention the dress code in a reception invitation that does not mention the wedding ceremony (in the lower right-hand corner). Remember to be clear and write “Black tie.” “Black tie preferred” or “Black tie invited” can be confusing to guests.
