Can my engagement shoot have a theme?

A Of course it can! Your engagement shoot should be a true reflection of you and your fiance since you likely won’t have the same amount of freedom when you take your wedding photos the day-of. Have fun with it. Wedding photographers are more than happy to work on engagement shoots because of the extra creativity that's often call for.

Lots of couples go with elaborately themed engagement shoots -- often to set the stage for the wedding theme. For example, a vintage engagement photo shoot may foreshadow lots of antique details at the wedding. Some couples choose a time period like the ‘20s or the ’50s and dress the part.

Other couples just take photos around a city that means a lot to them -- like where they live, where they met, or where they’re getting married, and the location turns into a theme on its own. If you live near an apple orchard and you take your engagement pictures there, the shoot has an apple, autumn theme without any extra planning on your part. Aug 06, 2009
