Candles
Keep those bugs away and add a lovely glow to your reception with citronella candles in ceramic pots, galvanized buckets or terra cotta pots.
Flowers
We know you love flowers, so make sure your garden or park spot is ablaze with color on your wedding day. You may be able to request that your park coordinator plant special flowers a few days before your wedding. For an especially charming touch, choose blooms that echo what you plan to carry in your bouquet.
Luminarias
We just love those glowing luminaria bags, and it turns out that it's easy to create your own. Fill paper bags with sand and votive candles to create a pathway of light to your reception.
Fruit
If you are getting married in an orchard or vineyard, use beautiful fruit, such as any type of citrus, grapes or pears, in your centerpieces. You can also fill glass containers with fruit and top them off with a floral arrangement. They'll look good enough to eat.
Picnics
Why not have a picnic reception? Collect your favorite mismatched quilts, and set out a lavish feast for your guests. If you don't want to sit on the ground, you can create the same effect by using patchwork quilts as tablecloths.
Parasols
Are you getting married on a warm summer day? Consider distributing brightly colored parasols or paper fans. You can buy them for a song in your local Chinatown, and they're a gorgeous way of ensuring your guests are kept shaded and cool as they enjoy your day.
Tennis Courts
There's no easier way to hold a gorgeous outside reception than on a tennis court. Just bring in turf, and tent the space, and you have a gorgeous reception site with very little work.
