Are the ceilings in the space you've chosen especially high? Swag them in billowing panels of fabric to make your room seem more intimate, or drop cloth banners to add warmth and enclose a space. Some brides fill the ceiling with pearlized balloons, or hang garlands from the ceiling.

Why not build your buffets and bar stations around art displays, statues or special exhibits? Embellish beautiful chandeliers, sconces and detailed woodwork with garlands. You've gone to the expense and effort of using a public space, so play it up.
