What should you do with unwanted wedding gifts?

A

It's always a good idea to inquire about a store's exchange/return policies when setting up your wedding registry. The great thing is many wedding registry retailers have amazing customer service to accommodate to-be-weds' needs (for example, you might suddenly realize that you don't really have room for 24 chargers and want to return, say, 8 of them). That said, being aware of the store's return/exchange timelines will help you better plan and manage your gift registry.

You can always hold onto wedding gifts you think you may not need just in case, or sell them online (discreetly) to get cash for what you really want. It’s best to be gracious and thank the person who purchased the wedding gift for you. There’s no nice way to say, “I don’t want this!” If you receive a duplicate item from your wedding registry, return it to the store and exchange it for another item you didn’t receive from the list.
